While Leslie August is on a mission with
her new business to eradicate workplace bullying, it occurred to
her that how she got there and the shift she experienced would
likely be of most interest for people to hear. In a nutshell, her
shift was a function of a change in identity and role within her
family of origin and life. Compound the experience with the
changing COVID-19 era we are experiencing and you may find solace
and understanding for something you are experiencing or have in
your own life.
Externally, she went from the Acting CEO, part-owner and director of a successful niche international trade and insurance business where she had been for 23 years, to an entrepreneur in a totally different industry. Venturing from financial security and abundance to financial insecurity and lean times. But internally the shift was from supporter/facilitator to truthteller/workplace advocate. Leslie broke the unspoken family agreement that we are loyal to each other under any and all circumstances; even if it hurts outsiders. That is, our first loyalty and obligation is to other family members.
There is a painful and difficult story that weaves through the shift and decision to sacrifice that security which we can get into if it makes sense.
